Tis the Season

Well it was an interesting Christmas this year, we didn't really do the normal traditions like usual. I spent the first part of being here babysitting my two nieces. It was really fun, and tiring at the same time. I love spending time with them, and seeing how much they have changed while I have been gone away at school.
We had an amazing Christmas Eve Dinner that Emily made for us. She is a great cook, and a great hostess. We had dinner played games, and enjoyed each others company. It was nice to have Grandma Houston with us this year.
Christmas morning we got up and went to church at nine, and then we came home and had breakfast, and then we finally opened presents at 11. Weston, Rian and the kids came over and opened presents with us. Then we cleaned up our mess and went down to Justin and Emily's and gave them there presents.
Later that evening, we went out to Uncle John's. Its always fun to get together with mom's side of the family. I enjoy socializing, and hearing what everyone got for Christmas. It was really fun to watch everyone play Just Dance 3 on the wii. Justin, and Uncle John were probably my favorite to watch. Kenyon put in a good effort too.
It was definitely a different Christmas for me, but we were all here this year, and thats been nice. We were all blessed, and I'm thankful for the things that I have in life that I sometimes take for granted, and also grateful for an amazing family!

Christmas Time 2011

My life has been super busy these past two weeks! We had an ugly sweater Christmas party at our house. I spent all day Friday cleaning the house, and all day Saturday shopping (for food) and making treats, and getting things set up. We invited over 200 people, 40 people said they were going to come and about 30ish showed up. I had five friends that came. It was very overwhelming but it was fun.
Then the week following the christmas party was finals. I spent a lot of time studying, and working on an English portfolio. I really don't know how people can work full time, and go to school full time. I struggled working part time, and going to school. So it was nice to work half the semester and then being able to take the last half off and just focus on school. I'm glad to say that my studying paid off! I got an A is psychology! It was one of my harder classes for me because it involved a lot of reading, and I had to take a quiz every week. Then I took a special education class and I got a 94 on the final, so I got an A in that class too!
I just need three more classes to post my grades! The only grade I'm worried about is English. I have worked really hard in that class, and stayed up way late working on my portfolio to try and make it as perfect as possible (a big thanks to Janice!), but my professor is a harder grader so I will have to wait and see. If anything, I learned I can make it through a class even if the professor grades hard. I'm just praying I at least get a B.
I had a job interview a week ago at the Chrysalis Home, but it looks like I didn't get it. It's a blessing in disguise, because I really wanted to go home and spend time with the family, but if I got this job I would have only had christmas weekend off.
I'm so grateful for everyone in my family that has helped me get into college, and helped me figure things out this first semester. Also a huge thanks to Janice who has proof read all my english papers, and spent hours on Skype with me, so that I could get a good grade.
I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas and I hope it's a very Merry one at that.

It is Finals Time!

I have almost made it through my first semester of college at Utah Valley University. So far so good, if I can just make it through this last week of classes and then one week of tests! I have really enjoyed the college experience, and getting to meet new people, and learn in depth about different subjects and topics. I feel like have a grown a lot this year, and I hope to continue to grow. I'm hoping to go home for a couple weeks after this semester, but it all depends on if I get this job I'm interviewing for this Friday. I applied to the Chrysalis Home. Its a glorified baby sitting job of handicap individuals. I think it will be a great job, and then I can do hair on the side. Life is moving forward.

Wowzer!

I don't know what is happening but all of sudden guys want to date me. I have been on two dates in four days. I have a date on friday and just got asked out on date for Saturday. It is a little weird. I'm not use to this!!
On a different note, school is going well. Its starting to get stressful again because the end of the semester is in sight! Its crazy to think I've almost made it through my first semester of college! I'm very thankful that I am able to go to school and further my education. Its not the easiest thing in the world, but it is well worth it. I've already signed up for my classes and I'll be taking English, math, reading strategies class, nutrition, and one other class that I can't remember at the moment. I'm looking forward to the next semester and to making new friends.
Overall I'm feeling good about life again. All I need to do is find a job again.

Speed Dating

Last night for F.H.E. we had a combined stake speed dating activity. I was skeptical about going to it, but I figure it would be a good way to meet and make some friends. I talked Michell into going with me, but she ended up canceling, and my roommates invited me to go with them. We got there a little bit late, and it was full! We didn't have anywhere to sit and it started making me feel awkward, and I just wanted to leave. Well we stuck around and they finally set up some chairs, and I got to mingle. I met a lot of interesting people to say the least. I did make a couple friends, Kevin and Danny. Kevin is actually a friend to one of my roommates, so I've met him before, but we officially friends now. Danny is his roommate, and they are both really neat guys. They kind of captured me and took me to their house for f.h.e. It made me want to start doing f.h.e. at my house, and having family prayer. It was awesome for me to see a group of 8 guys have f.h.e. together. I'm sure I will be hanging out with them a lot more.

What a weekend....

Well its been a rough five days to say the least. I guess you could say I went through a little heart break, and that is never easy or fun. Then I got sick Halloween night and ended up throwing up. I just got done disposing of what I ate for the day and brushed my teeth. I looked up in the mirror, and that was the last thing I remember until I woke up sprawled out on the bathroom floor looking up at the ceiling. I fainted, and hit my head pretty hard because I had a headache for two days, and yesterday my body was a little sore and stiff. Luckily I have great family and friends that have helped me find the light again. Monday, Brynn sat and talked to me all day and cheered me. Tuesday I went to three different temples; Draper, South Jordan, and Oquirrh Mountain with Michell. we did 26 baptisms each. It was good to get out of the house and do something meaningful. Then Wednesday I headed to Taylorsville to see some of my favorite cousins, Lacee and Lincoln. Robbie is out of town for eight days, and they were a little worried about me, so I figured I would go spend the day with the two of them. We had lunch, went to target, played with Lincoln, and had dinner. It was good for the both of us to get our mind of things. They are the best examples to me, and I love them dearly. I'm feeling good again, and I get to go home this weekend which I'm excited for!
