Summer of 2012

Well I haven't been up to much besides working and taking trips home to St. George. I went home every weekend in June, and my sister finally got married on June 22nd. It was a crazy chaotic day for me, but she looked beautiful, and I think she was happy with the way it turned out. The ride home from Brynn's wedding was really nice. My dad drove me home, and we had a good heart to heart. We talked about everything under the sun and cried the whole way home. It was nice to see my dad show his emotions, and to know that he really cares about me, and the other siblings. I know he loves us, but sometimes its hard to remember that. I think it was the first heart to heart my dad and I have ever had, we were actually communicating!

I've been to the Mona lake a  couple times this summer, and its sad to think that its just dwindled down to me and my friends. When it use to be my dad, sister, uncle, and close friends of the Snyder family. Now its hard to get us all together, but those have been some of the best memories of my summers. I hope to get a trip in with everyone again.

This past weekend I went and saw grandma and grandpa Hendrickson. I love going to their house! I'm dreading the day when that is no longer my get away. My dad happened to come over, and he helped me put new rotors and break pads on my car. He made me sit out there and watch him, so that next time I can do it on my own... but to be honest I don't think I would be able to. There are so many steps, loosen this, put that here, tighten this... ya... I'm really not car savvy. Grandpa Wayne took me to get the parts, and we were talking about getting pulled over/tickets. We both said that we haven't been pulled over in a while. (NEVER NEVER talk about this) because literally the next day I got pulled over and got a speeding ticket. Luckily the cop was pretty nice, and only put me for 9 over. I didn't cry which I was proud of!

I went to a softball game up in Salt Lake with Adrian and I ran into my long lost best friend Jocelyn Stubbs! It was so good to see her! I screamed like a little girl and ran up to her and gave her a big hug! I hope we get together soon and do something before she heads back to Nebraska for school.

I got a phone call yesterday from Mr. Holub telling me that they are moving Jared Call (Down Syndrome I went to school with, and baby sat after we graduated) to a home in Provo. I'm really excited that he'll be closer, and I'm hoping that I will be able to hang out with him at least once week. I've definitely missed spending the one night a month with him while his parents went out. I hope he settles in to his new surroundings, and that he loves it!

Oh, just a couple of  funny stories that have made my summer.  (all relating to my nieces)

Nyah and Anastyn were in their toy room playing house, and Anastyn called Nyah "Brynn" and Nyah turned to Anastyn and said, "Anastyn don't call me Brynn call me Dizzle."

Nyah told her mom, "Mom if I close my eyes and cover them will you surprise me with Dizzle when I open them?" I surprised her on her birthday in May, and so that's where she gets the surprise part from. I also talked to her on the phone later this day and she told me, "Dizzle I miss you really really bad." It made my heart melt! I love my nieces and they make me so happy, and there is nothing better than going home and having them run into my arms and yell DIZZLE. I'm going home this weekend to surprise Nyah. I can't wait to them both!

My summer has gone by so fast! School starts in about a month and I can't believe it! This summer I've had my first taste of the real world, working every single day with out a day off. I think I'll be job hunting again soon. I like the job I have but it is very draining at times. That is the scoop as of lately.

Flung Dung

Yesterday I arrived to work 20 minutes early. To my dismay one of the individuals I take care of had taken her diaper off and was playing her feces. She had it everywhere!! All of her, on her face, legs, and hands. All over her bed, and bedding. All over her stuffed animals. It was a huge mess!! I got her in the shower while the other two staff cleaned up her room. Before she got in the shower I asked her to set her stuffed animal down, along with the softball size turd. To my dismay she put the stuffed animal down, but not the turd. I asked her again, and she went to throw it, I told her lets just set it down. Well... she threw it anyways and it hit the door and bounced off and hit me in the shoulder. I got nailed with poop! I was gagging and laughing the whole time. She thought it was pretty funny too, she was just laughing the whole time we were cleaning up. I'm especially thankful for gloves, clorox, and a washer and dryer!

stuff in my life.

Not much has happened in my life lately. I finished this semester with a straight A's and I was really excited about that. I went on a hike to Stewart Falls in Provo Canyon, and I saw moose. I've never seen a real one so it was really cool. I've been working everyday, and trying to go to the gym. My dad surprised me this last week, and took me out to lunch. It was nice to see him, but I wish he would have been in a better mood. He just had a blow out with Grandma Becky.  It was nice to know that he thought about me, and decided to stop and see me. I lost my phone, and lost all of my contacts. I'm really sad about it, but luckily I had a back up phone. Thats pretty much it, I've been pretty boring lately.

Some people make my day

I was walking to the testing center at UVU and its a little walk from the main campus. I was cutting through the parking lot and this older women that I didn't know said with a smile, "Have a good day."  It was really random, but it made me smile. I told her, "Thanks, You too." She then replied, "You're cute, You need boyfriend." ha ha ha I said, "Thanks." and  that was the end of our conversation. It made me giggle the rest of the way to the testing center. Her smile, and nice words made my day. I'm glad there are people like this in the world.

Power of Words

I've been thinking a lot lately about the power of words. I have to write a paper on the power of words, and I watched a video on youtube how a blind man was sitting on the side walk with a sign that said I'm blind and can't see. People would walk by occasionally throwing some change his way. Then one lady stopped, and wrote something on his sign saying nothing to him. She left, and then everyone that walked by was throwing heaps of change his way. The lady came back, and the guy recognized her, by feeling her shoes. He asked what did you put on the sign? She said, I said the same thing just in a different way. The sign said, "It's a beautiful day, I'm blind and can't see." Words really are so powerful, and the blind man was so thankful for some sympathy and kindness.
When I was walking down the hall today at school, there is this cute blind guy that I always see. Well a lady stopped him, and said hey, you probably don't remember me, and he immediately grabbed her hand and kissed it. He then said chuckling, I just bit you. It made me smile. The simplest hi or hello can go a long ways. Walking around in a wold you can't see must be hard, but luckily they have words to express themselves.

Going to a Dance :/

My roommate Rachael talked me into going to a dance party with her, and two of her guy friends. It was a friday night, and I had no plans, so I figured why not... Well dances haven't ever been my thing, no matter how hard I try to like them. I had to pay $8.00 to get in, and it was the biggest waste of money. I don't like dance parties. I'm the weirdo that stands in the back and doesn't dance, I just sit and watch people. The stench and the humidity in that place was disgusting. I can officially say I won't be going to another one of those. It was fun to get out, but that is just too much fun for me, and the fact the I lack dancing skills probably plays in to it.
Then Saturday evening I spent it with Robbie Lacee, and Lincoln. I love spending time with them, and they always rejuvenate me. I have been feeling really down, depressed, and burnt out with everything. Robbie gave me a beautiful blessing, and it was just what I needed to hear. We had a great dinner, and it's always fun to play with Lincoln. He has the cutest laugh. They are great examples to me, and I'm glad they are willing to let me come over and hang out with them. They also help me meet guys. They got some digits for me while eating at Olive Garden in West Valley. Robbie and the waiter (William) started talking, and for some reason Robbie thought he should mention me. William seemed excited (thats what they said) and gave them his number, e-mail, and told them to have me look him up on facebook. ha ha I'm glad they are keeping their eyes open for me.

Easter and then an ER Visit

Well, its been a while since I last blogged. A LOT has happened since then. I had boyfriend, he broke up with me right before spring break. Then I got back from spring break and got slammed with homework. The week of the March 26th went like this: Monday- worked 3-7pm, Tuesday worked 12am-8am, and took a mid term. Wednesday- 17 page paper rough draft due, worked 3-7pm, Thursday- worked 6-9am worked on a literature review which is reading 3 scholarly reviewed articles, and then a two page write up on each article. Then I had another two papers for my humanities class, and a test, and a math test. plus regular homework on top of that. All in one week!!! I hated life, and I may have had a little melt down, but I made it through and I did pretty well on all of my tests, I got 100% on my math test! :)
Then for Easter I decided to go to St. George because I had the whole weekend off. I got up wednesday at 7:00am and went to school worked from 3-7pm and came home and packed. Went back to work from 12am-8am and then drove to St. George. (I was up for a full 24 hours.) I went to the dentist and he hurt me, but I'm glad to have my cavities fixed. Then I got to see Devin, it was his birthday I took him a little gift, and we went to menchies and had frozen yogurt. Then on Friday I just spent the day with my family and celebrated Kenyon's birthday, and Saturday we celebrated Easter. It was a beautiful day and we spent the whole day in the backyard eating, playing games, and enjoying each others company. I was glad that Grandma Houston came down, and spent the day with us as well. I must say that I have an amazing family, and I love being with them, and laughing my guts out. We played hand and foot, bad mittion, lasso golf, and dyed easter eggs with red root, and onion skins, and also had a little easter egg hunt for the kids. It was probably the best day we've had as a family in long time. No one fought, and we all just enjoyed the day nothing better than that! Sunday I got up and went on a little hike with my mom and Kenyon. It was fun, and made me realize how much I love St. George, and hiking. I need to do it more! Then I drove back to Orem to have a dinner date with my dad.
I made it to Grandma Joans around 5:30 and waited for my dad to come get me. He picked me up and we went and got his friend Steve and the three of us went to dinner at Jim's. Me and two old fat guys! ha ha Well I ordered chicken, it was kind of dry, but I kept eating it because I was hungry. Well I have a problem with food getting stuck in my throat, and its one of the worst pains. You can't drink anything because it just comes back up, you have major heart burn, and trouble breathing. (this usually happens when I eat meat, and bread) Well it usually goes away in 5 minutes or so but this time it was being stubborn. My dad has the same problem and he told me to go try and throw up. So I took his advice went into the bathroom, and gagged myself 3 times. Nothing came up except foamy, thick salvia/acid. Well I went back to the table and sat there a little longer... and it still was stuck so I went back to the bathroom, and nothing again but thick salvia. So we left, and we were on our way back to grandma's and we had to pull over so I could get out and throw up. Made it to grandmas, and it was still stuck... threw up a couple more times, and by 8:30 I was going nuts! It had been there since about 6:30. My mom called right in the middle and told grandma to take me to the ER. Well of coarse they were busy and it took them a while to see me. I was having a hard time, and I the pain in my chest, and constant spitting up of salvia was driving me crazy. They finally put me in a room and made me get in the stupid gown. They gave me medicine to try and help my esophagus relax to either get me to throw up the piece of chicken or make it go down. Well they gave me medicine that gives you a head ache and it was immediate! Then they waited five minutes and told me to chug some sprite, well I just threw the sprite up. The chicken was blocking the passage! The doctor came in (he was pretty cute!) and said I had to get the scope down my throat they had to call the specialist in so it would be 30 to 45 minutes before they would take me back. At this point I just wanted the stupid thing out! Its 10:00pm I want to breath normally, and get back to Orem so i can go to school tomorrow. At 11 they wheel me down the hall into a different room and start getting me ready for the scope. Right before the doctor came in I finally threw up the piece of chicken and felt so much better! The doctor decided to go ahead and do the scope anyways because he said it wasn't normal for me to be choking on food like that. They sedated me and then I woke up laughing and smiling. I remember looking around and just laughing at everything. I even said, "why am I laughing this is so embarrassing." Then I was just thinking about school. I wanted to go to school today, I missed friday and didn't want to miss today. They told me I couldn't drive for 12 hours. I just kept saying I'm going to school tomorrow. Grandma Joan said you can't drive, I told her if I can find someone to come get me I'm going to school. The doctor wrote me a note to excuse my absence, they all thought I was nuts for wanting to go because I had a legit doctors note. I only made it to math today, but at least I made it to math! I have to go back in, in a month and be sedated again because my esophagus narrows as you go down, and they are going to stretch it out for me. Thats how I ended my Easter Weekend what a fun night/day!
I owe a big thanks to Dylan, and Nate for picking me up and driving me to orem, and Nate for driving me from school to my house! They are awesome!
